Reporting what someone said in an indirect way.

  1. She said that the meeting had been postponed.
  2. He asked what the costs would be.
  3. The witness said that he had seen nothing unusual.
  4. She wanted to know whether the deadline could be extended.
  5. The director stated that the report would be published.
  6. He repeated that the decision had been taken by the board.
  7. They asked why the plans had been withdrawn.
  8. The minister denied that the figures had been adjusted.
  9. She asked him to explain how the system worked.
  10. The board announced that the tender would be repeated.
  11. He wondered whether anyone had read the annex.
  12. The applicant stated that the deadline had been misread.
