A2 · Lesson 75 · Life admin
At the town hall
Register at the gemeente, fill in forms and understand the instructions.
Grammar
Instructions on forms
- Instructions use the stem of the verb, first in the sentence. Separable verbs split, with the prefix at the end: invullen → Vul het formulier in. meenemen → Neem uw paspoort mee.
- Polite instructions add -t and u: Vult u het formulier in. Neemt u een nummertje.
- On forms and signs you often see just the infinitive, with the prefix still attached: Hier tekenen. Volledig invullen. Niet vouwen.
- zich inschrijven (to register) is separable and reflexive: Ik schrijf me in bij de gemeente. Ik heb me ingeschreven.

|---|---|---|
| invullen | Vul het formulier in. | Formulier invullen. |
