Om … te or zodat?

om … te + infinitive gives a purpose when the subject stays the same: We isoleren het dak om energie te besparen.
zodat + subclause (verb at the end) gives a purpose or result, especially with a different subject: We isoleren het dak, zodat de warmte binnen blijft.
Zo at the start of a main clause (= this way) is followed by the verb: Zo bespaar je geld op je energierekening.
Don't mix them up: not om de warmte binnen blijft, and not zodat energie te besparen.

zodat + subclause	Ik draag een trui, zodat de verwarming lager kan.
Zo + verb	Zo houd je de warmte binnen.
