Paired structures
- Hoe meer …, hoe … = the more …, the …. The verb goes to the end in both parts: Hoe meer je fietst, hoe beter het voor het milieu is.
- Any comparative works: Hoe eerder, hoe beter. Hoe minder afval we maken, hoe schoner de stad wordt.
- Niet alleen …, maar ook … = not only …, but also …: Ik scheid niet alleen plastic, maar ook glas.
- Zowel … als … = both … and …: Ik scheid zowel papier als glas.
- Niet alleen … maar ook and zowel … als don't change the word order.
