Indirect questions: of, wat, hoeveel…

• A yes/no question becomes a subclause with of (whether): Wordt dit vergoed? → Weet u of dit vergoed wordt?
• Question words stay at the front of the subclause: Hoeveel is de premie? → Ik wil weten hoeveel de premie is.
• In the subclause the verbs go to the end; there is no inversion: Kunt u me vertellen wanneer de specialist tijd heeft?
• Polite openers: Kunt u me vertellen…, Weet u toevallig…, Ik vroeg me af…
• The premium differs per insurer and policy and usually changes every year; the compulsory eigen risico is set by the government and can also change, so it's always worth checking with your insurer.
