Job interview
Vacancies, CVs and interviews — and reporting what people say and ask.
Grammar
Indirect speech and questions
- Statements are reported with dat; the verb goes to the end: “Ik heb ervaring.” → Hij zegt dat hij ervaring heeft.
- Yes/no questions are reported with of (whether): “Spreek je Engels?” → Ze vraagt of ik Engels spreek.
- Question words stay: “Waar woon je?” → Ze vraagt waar ik woon. Also after Ik weet niet…: Ik weet niet wanneer het gesprek begint.
- Pronouns shift to the reporter's point of view: ik → hij/zij, je → ik. When you report in the present, the tense stays the same.
