A1 · Lesson 17 · Me and my day
Feelings
Say how you feel: tired, happy, hungry, cold or in a hurry.
Grammar
Zijn or hebben?
- Most feelings use zijn + adjective, just like English: Ik ben moe. Ben je boos?
- Some feelings use hebben + a noun — literally “I have hunger”: Ik heb honger. Heb je dorst?
- For your body temperature say Ik heb het koud / warm. Het is koud is about the weather.
- Never say Ik ben koud for “I’m cold” — that sounds like your skin is cold to the touch.
