Clothes & colours

Describe what people wear and try things on.

Grammar

Colours as adjectives

  • Colours follow the normal adjective rule: add -e before a noun — de rode jas, het rode overhemd, rode schoenen.
  • No -e after een + het-word: een rood overhemd.
  • After the verb there's no ending: De jas is rood.
  • Spelling: rood → rode (one o in an open syllable), wit → witte (double t after a short vowel).
  • Trying on: Mag ik dit passen? · Size: Welke maat heeft u?
